Volvo Car Canada's recent foray into the electric vehicle market, the EX30, is swiftly approaching its halfway sales mark, with nearly 50% of the inventory pre-sold since its introduction on October 18. This notable sales performance reflects a growing interest in electric vehicles, as seen in Volvo's Canadian sales data where EVs comprised 20.8% of their total sales in October. This aligns with Volvo's plan to shift to a fully electric vehicle lineup by 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
The design of the EX30 is rooted in environmental sustainability, featuring an interior that incorporates 30% recycled and renewable materials, and an exterior made with 25% recycled aluminum. As highlighted by Matt Girgis, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Canada, the EX30 caters to the Canadian market's preference for environmentally conscious, safe, and premium electric vehicles. With a base price of $53,700, it offers a variety of color and interior design options.
The EX30 boasts two electric propulsion systems, including a high-performance Twin Motor version with 422 horsepower, capable of a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.6 seconds. The vehicle also includes top-tier safety features like the Blind Spot Information System and Driver Alert System, reinforcing Volvo's dedication to safety.
Customization of the EX30 is available through Volvo's Canadian website, with expected delivery starting in Summer 2024. The model is included in Volvo Car Canada’s 'One Price Promise', promising a transparent and straightforward purchasing experience. The EX30 represents a pivotal addition to Volvo's electric vehicle portfolio, merging environmental friendliness with innovative safety and performance features.
